Master pages are a good option for saving a document as a template.Like the folios header footer, all global contents can use master pages as repeated.Master pages, variables, are very good options.

3 Set up your styles

The style sheet is also a good and very useful option for all pagination works.If we create a style sheet based on customer specs and it has been used across the teams. Style sheets and master pages are a global option which reduces manual intervention.Style sheets we have a lot of options which apply globally throughout the documents.Redefine stylesheet is a one bonus option and it's a very important option in style sheets.

4 Add your placeholders
The fourth step is to add your placeholders, which are the dummy content and images that represent the actual content and images that you'll use in your final document. Placeholders help you visualize and organize your layout, and also act as guides for inserting and replacing your content later. You can use the Type tool to create text frames and fill them with placeholder text, and the Frame tool to create image frames and fill them with placeholder images.

5 Save your template file
The fifth step is to save your template file, which is the file that you'll use to create new documents based on your template. To save your template file, go to File > Save As, and choose InDesign Template as the format. Give your template a descriptive name and location, and click Save. Use them often and watch online tutorials to refine your templates. Newer documents can be created to tailor it to the requirements and the original templates remains unchange so you can use it for other projects. Always use templates, it is my recommendation.
