| Besides what was mentioned, it kinda bothers me that the system treats Western as special; for some of the Asian countries it would make sense to "Westernize" towards the Eastern group due to contact with Russia. Similarly some Subsaharan nations really should be able to pick stuff up from Ottoman and Muslim group neighbors. The current system also seems to encourage some level of gaminess in play --- people doing things like tanking (Speaking of ahistorical outcomes, my current game has Westernized AI Ming --- with new system the AI |

| I don't think having per-state/province demographics is quite the right approach since this time period is kinda big for nationalism and formation of new Nation States. Hmm, except in practical terms cores for non-existing nations seem to play some of the same role. |
